Wednesday saw the biggest spike in corona virus cases in Santa Cruz county to date.
The 10 new confirmed cases are being attributed, in part, to a lack of social distancing with local activities such as “black lives matter” protests, and extended family gatherings that took place back on the Memorial Day weekend and Mother’s Day.
As of Thursday afternoon, there were 249 positive cases of Covid-19 in Santa Cruz county…and 197 recoveries with two deaths, the total number of negative tests now stands at 1,067.
Santa Cruz County Health Officer Dr. Gail Newel reminds folks to remain vigilant with social distancing, face coverings and hand washing.
