The person who is believed to have died sometime prior to Monday morning, when a vehicle was noticed off Highway 1 near Gorda, was in a Jeep Cherokee, (not a black Lexus SUV, as was first reported). The northbound vehicle had Texas plates. It is thought that the jeep may have gone off Highway 1 at least 24 hours before it was spotted (by someone who pulled over to take a picture of the scenery, and saw the wreckage).
