The City of Monterey is considering laying off firefighters. The city and The Monterey Firefighters Association are in discussions regarding possible lay offs for three firefighters. The city estimates the COVID-19 pandemic will drain the city’s general fund revenues by 31 million dollars. The possible lay offs will be discussed at tonight’s 630 p-m town hall meeting.
