A vehicle stop by Salinas police resulted in an assault weapon seizure last Thursday. A patrol unit stopped a vehicle for a tinted window violation. A compliance search of the vehicle uncovered an AK-47 assault rifle in the car’s trunk. 20-year-old Miguel Banuelos and 22-year-old Christian Castro were arrested on firearms-related charges and booked into the Monterey County Jail.
