Carmel USD Meeting Airs New Controversy 05-21-20 02:34

A Carmel Unified School District Board of Education meeting Tuesday may have closed one controversy but brought out another.

The school board approved the mutual consent agreement that gives outcoming Superintendent Barbara Dill-Varga nearly a year of pay and benefits after her resignation.

With the decision made, the board then heard parent complaints about the move to distance learning as a result of COVID-19.

Some parents are dissatisfied with the way teachers have handled the transition to remote learning under COVID-19. Teachers, however, counter that teaching students online is very demanding. The district will look for solutions to the problem.
