On Friday, several cars were discovered parked along the side of Highway 1 leading up to Davenport.
With parking lots shut down along the North Coast, tourists and residents alike were eager to make their own parking spots along the highway shoulder. Once visitors parked, many were seen crossing Highway 1 where there are no crosswalks and walking along the shoulder in close proximity to high speed traffic.
Parking along Highway 1 is violation of the California Vehicle Code which can result in a citation, fine, and insurance rate increases.
Violators that are cited can be subject to a health code ticket for violating the Shelter-In-Place order in addition to the traffic ticket.
