Monterey area residents suffered a power outage Saturday evening. P,G&E officials said that almost 9 thousand households lost power shortly after 5 p-m. The outage was due to a metallic or Mylar balloon making contact with transmission lines. The spokesperson said that outages caused by this type of balloon are becoming more common. If a balloon, or any other thing becomes entangled in a power line do not attempt to remove it. Call PG&E and report it immediately.
