Second AAA Turn-down in SC Over COVID Concerns 04-28-20 16:46 DC

KION Television reports that a second Santa Cruz County resident claims she was turned down for AAA road service because of corona virus concerns.

Sandy Davis said that she was refused AAA service in March because of international travel several weeks earlier that was not to China or Europe.

That March incident follows a Santa Cruz County nurse reporting she was also denied roadside service just last week.

AAA contracts in Santa Cruz County through Rossi’s Towing, which claims to be the only AAA provider in the county. The nurse said she was left stranded due to her work with COVID-19 patients.

Here’s what to do: If someone’s car breaks down on the side of the highway and they can’t get help, CHP said they should call 911 and CHP will help them.

The only other option – especially if you are stuck in a driveway or parking lot — is to try calling other towing companies directly.

In a statement, AAA said it has now eliminated any questions about travel.
