Salinas police yesterday (Tues) cited 8 people for violating the Monterey County shelter-in-place order.
Officers were called to Center Street near East Market Street, around 8 p.m. after receiving reports of a large crowd causing a disturbance.
Officers said that as they arrived many people took off running. They were able to detain Xavier Jimenez, 18, Andrew Rodriguez, 19, Juan Alvarez, 19, Alexis Esquivel, 18, Ray Conno Jr., 18, Chase Corral, 18 and two juveniles.
All were cited for violation of the shelter-in-place order after officers determined the group did not have a valid reason to be out in public.
