Dozens of trees are being cut down in Oldtown Salinas as part of the ongoing plan to revitalize the Oldtown area. The sidewalks and light posts are also being removed. The plan calls for the construction of A.D.A. compliant sidewalks, the installation of Fiber Optic Internet cables, and turning Main Street into a 2-way street. Although trees are being removed, new ones are expected to be planted to replace them. In total, the $12-million project is slated to take 6 months to complete.
