An off duty Hollister police officer is being credited for getting an unsafe driver off the roadway last Thursday. The incident took place on San Felipe Road shortly after 6 p-m when the off duty officer had to pull to the shoulder of the roadway to avoid being rear ended by a vehicle traveling at an estimated 100 mph. The officer called for uniformed officers and began pursuit. With the help of a patrol unit the car was stopped and impounded and the driver 21-year-old Luis Gallegos-Valdez was charged with reckless driving.
