KION Television reports that a King City man has been arrested for falsely reporting an emergency after police said he reported a hostage situation.
On Monday morning dispatchers got a call from someone reporting that four to six people with rifles entered a home in the 100 block of River Drive and were holding the residents hostage.
After creating an exclusion zone around the home, police contacted the residents and learned the hostage report was false.
Police say they identified 28-year-old Irvin Rodriguez as the person suspected of making the call.
Police added that Rodriguez admitted to making the call and that he did it because cars were driving in his neighborhood and he thought the police would come faster if people with guns were involved.
