Wednesday, February 26, at 3:23 p.m., marks the seventh anniversary of the deaths of Sergeant Butch Baker and Detective Elizabeth Butler in the line of duty. The Santa Cruz Police Department Honor Guard will perform a brief ceremony as a memorial tribute to our fallen friends and heroes that will begin at 3:23 p.m. at the Baker-Butler Memorial Garden in the front courtyard of the SCPD headquarters.
The public is welcome to join us. “This is an opportunity for us to stand together as a community and remember our officers who gave their lives while serving the citizens of Santa Cruz,” said Police Chief Andy Mills. “To honor, their ultimate sacrifice, we must never forget Sergeant Butch Baker and Detective Elizabeth Butler.”
