Around 3:30 Sunday afternoon, Santa Cruz County Sheriffs Deputies were called to Soquel Drive and Winkle Avenue for reports of a suspect shooting at cars passing by.
During the investigation, A 9 millimeter shell casing was found at the crime scene.
Multiple witnesses called 911 and were able to locate the suspect who was seen running into Emerald Bay Apartments.
A perimeter was established around the apartments, and deputies arrested 18 year old Anthony Martinez-Franco.
Upon arrest, Martinez-Franco was found with a loaded handgun in his backpack.
The suspect has been booked on several charges including: willful discharge of a firearm, loaded firearm in a public place, and possession of a firearm with an altered identification.
