The California Coastal Commission this week notified California America Water Company that they should withdraw their Marina water desalination permit application. The notification was received Tuesday and the company says it is preparing a response.
The CCC letter said additional modeling and new data is needed to understand the impacts the project has on local aquifers. The Coastal Commission said there is not enough time to complete review of the proposal before a mid-February deadline. For that reason, the withdrawal and resubmission of the application was recommended.
