The Salinas Rail Depot will soon serve a new purpose.
Previously decommissioned in the sixties, it will now become the California Welcome Center.
This Welcome Center will feature an 11-by-8 foot 3D mural that showcases the first map of Salinas, dating back to 1875.
While an opening date has yet to be set, this new California Welcome Center is anticipated to open around the middle of February.
