Governor Gavin Newsom today (Thursday) unveiled a proposal that would make California the first state with its own prescription drug label.
Newsom is proposing for California to contract with generic drug companies to make prescription medications to be sold to the public by the state. Newsom said the goal is to lower prescription prices by increasing competition in the generics market.
In a statement, Newsom said “The cost of health care is just too damn high, and California is fighting back.”
