The Center for Disease Control is continuing to warn the public to avoid consumption of romaine lettuce that is grown in the Salinas Valley.
The number of illnesses related to consumption of romaine has risen to 138.
Approximately half those who became sick needed to be hospitalized, and 13 have also suffered kidney failure.
So far, no deaths have been reported.
Nearly half of the states within the US have received this lettuce that is tainted with a certain E. Coli Strain.
Any lettuce that is grown outside the Salinas Valley has not been included in this reported outbreak.
