Soledad Rent Protection 12/13/19 Ci 8:30

Renters in Soledad now have an extra layer of protection.

The Soledad city cancel approved an emergency ordinance that protects tenants from being evicted without just cause and prevents property owners from raising rent more than 5-percent plus the percentage change in the cost of living.

Soledad council members said they received feedback from renters that landlords were raising the rent in an effort to evict tenants before the tenant protection act, signed by governor Newsom goes into effect January first.
