P,G&E is announcing a possible settlement agreement. In the mediated agreement, the company would pay 13.5 billion dollars to settle claims related to the 2017 Northern California Wildfires and 2018 Camp Fire, the state’s deadliest to date. The agreement would also resolve other claims, including the 2015 Butte Fire and 2016 Oakland Ghost Ship warehouse fire. The company claims if the agreement is approved in bankruptcy court they would be able to to emerge from Chapter 11 by the June 30, 2020. Under the terms of the deal P,G&E doesn’t admit being at fault.
