Caltrans Travel Safety Tips 11.27.19 0740 js

Caltrans in partnership with the CHP published a list encouraging safe driving habits during one of the busiest holiday travel seasons.

  • Obey the posted speed limit. Reduce your speed where congestion or hazards may occur and maintain a safe distance between other vehicles.
  • Slow down and move over when Caltrans workers, law enforcement or tow truck drivers are working near the roadway.
  • Call 911 to report any hazardous conditions or impaired driving.
  • Be aware of electronic message boards and other road signs with information on incidents, changing road conditions, lane closures or detours.
  • Ensure vehicle brakes, wiper blades and tires are in good condition. Inspect your headlights & taillights for maximum visibility on the highway.
  • Share the road safely with everyone, especially bicyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians.
