California announced plans on Thursday to sue the Trump administration over water in the San Joaquin Delta.
At issue, a proposed federal rules that would allocate more Delta water to farmers despite warnings that the diversion could imperil endangered species in the state’s rivers.
The state says to new rules are bad science and fall short of protecting threatened species.
In a joint statement, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marines Fisheries Service said their agencies firmly support the proposed rules.
