The city of Pacific Grove now has more land-use control in their Coastal Zone. That’s because the California Coastal Commission has approved the city’s long-awaited Local Coastal Program. The approval of that coastal program also removes uncertainty about how to mitigate beach loss, so they can ensure continued public access to area beaches. That’s particularly important in Pacific Grove, where 100 percent of the city’s coastline is in public ownership.
