Santos Fonseca and Jonathon Salazar appeared in court yesterday and pleaded “not guilty” to charges relating to their wily escape from the Monterey county jail earlier this month.
Fonseca and Salazar face separate felony charges, some related to murder. Both men are believed to be affiliated with gangs, and it seems that they managed to sneak across the border and into Mexico. They were arrested as they tried to return to the United States.
Fonseca is due back in court this Wednesday, while Salazar will make an appearance next month.
