A Seaside church is seeking a permit they need to be able to allow homeless people to park in their parking lot. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church wants to be part of the city’s “Safe Parking” program. The church is partnering with a group called One Starfish, who will screen people who wish to park there. Church officials also plan to have on-site security for people who park at the church. If the permit is approved by the Seaside City Council, some homeless people will be able to park there between 7:45 p.m. and 8:15 a.m. each night. They plan to have 13 parking spaces available on a night-to-night basis; and a spot that’s open for larger, or longer-term, parking as well.
