Due to ongoing labor issues on many local farms and ranches, some legislators (including local Congressman Jimmy Panetta) a working to create a path for undocumented immigrant farm workers to gain legal status. The Farm Workforce Modernization Act Of 2019 is a bipartisan measure that is expected to come up for a vote in the Full House by the end of the year. It aims to make sure that farmers and ranchers can meet their ongoing labor needs.
