A late night southbound highway one chase started in Salinas with a stop sign runner and ended in death near the vista point rest stop near La Selva Beach.
It began just before midnight when a male driver of a Dodge dart carrying two female passengers lead officers on a chase near laguna Secca raceway.
Near Salinas road on highway one… the driver started driving the wrong direction and that’s when c-h-p closed the highway and made several attempts to halt the driver but not before the dart crashed head on into a ford mustang near vista point on southbound highway one.
The driver of the dart was killed. The driver of the mustang reportedly had a large amount of methamphetamine in the car. Five people suffered major injuries… the c-h-p is investigating.
