Two area schools have been recognized by the Department of Education as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2019. The are among 362 award-winners, 30 of them in California.
Accelerated Achievement Academy in Hollister and Robert H. Down Elementary School in Pacific Grove are the two local Blue Ribbon schools, selected on the basis of academic excellence or progress in closing student achievement gaps.
The Department will honor the 312 public and 50 private schools selected at a recognition ceremony next month in Washington, D.C.
