Climate Strike Activists 09/24/19A 06:30 S.S.

Climate  strike  activists  performed  what  they  called  a  “Die-In”  yesterday.    “A  Matter  Of  Life  And  Death” included  people  collapsing  onto  the  pavement  on  pacific  avenue.     That  was in  an  effort  to  bring  attention  to  the  United  Nations  Climate  Change  Summit  taking  place  in  New  York  City  this  week.    Yesterday’s  event was  just  one  of several  events  planned  for  this  week  in  Santa  Cruz.    More  information  can be  found  on-line  at:  scruzclimate.org

66 countries  have  promised  to work toward  more  ambitious  climate  goals….with  30  of  those  sworn  to  be  carbon  neutral  by  mid-century.

Microsoft  founder  Bill  Gates  says  his  foundation,  along  with  the  World  Bank  and  some  European  governments, have  pledged  nearly  800  million  dollars  to  the  world’s    small  farmers  to  adapt to  climate change.

The  U.S.  Pretty  much  was  not  represented  at   the  Summit.    That’s  because  although  U.S. President Donald Trump did  drop  by  the summit, and  listened to German Chancellor Angela Merkel make detailed pledges including 1 about going coal-free — President  Trump  left the  Summit  without  saying  anything.
