In a 3-2 vote by the Milpitas City Council, Dixon Landing Road will now become Barack Obama Boulevard. The change was made in order to pay tribute to the former United States President.
Critics of the change take preference at maintaining the current historical significance. The original road name pays tribute to gold rush pioneer Matthew Dixon.
At this time, it is not certain the costs associated with this road name change, as well as how soon it would take place.
