A Gilroy man is behind bars this morning following a dangerous high speed chase on highway one from Carmel all the way to Big Sur.
According to Monterey county sheriff’s, Christopher Adam Chavez was speeding on highway one in the wrong direction. Officers deployed spike strips that finally stopped the car and sent it skidding down a cliff to the beach below.
Chavez admitted to being under the influence of narcotics and was injured from the cliff fall and airlifted to a nearby trauma center. He was arrested on multiple charges… including driving under the influence.
