6 San Jose teenagers suffered major injuries early this morning, when a 14 year-old driver crashed the S.U.V. he was driving as he fled from C.H.P. officers. The pursuit began after the officers tried to pull the vehicle over for an obstructed license plate violation, near the intersection of 41st Avenue and Clares Street. The chase ended when the 14 year-old boy lost control of the 2001 G.M.C. Yukon, and it overturned and hit a tree (just after he turned west onto Portola Drive). Although the boy who was driving was wearing his seatbelt (as were 3 of his female passengers)….the other 2 girls was not, and one of them was ejected from the S.U.V., and suffered critical injuries. All 6 were transported to area hospitals.
