Cal-Am is once again trying to get permission to raise its water rates. They filed a request with the California Public Utilities Commission, asking to raise the rate nearly 18 percent over a 3 year period….from 2021 to 2023….in its Monterey main service district. They are also seeking smaller rate hikes in several of their “satelllite” water systems…..including Garrapata, Toro, Ambler, and Ralph Lane and Chualar….and the Monterey Wastewater System. Officials with Cal-Am say they are hoping to raise approximately 8.4 million dollars, to cover their operating costs.
