Authorities say that the suspect in yesterday afternoon’s shootings at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, cut through a perimeter fence surrounding the Festival grounds to enter the crowded event without passing through security checkpoints. The suspect, who is said to have used a rifle to shoot his victims, was himself shot and killed by Gilroy police within a minute of the first reports of gunshots. As of last night a 2nd Person Of Interest was being sought in connnection with the shootings in which 3 people were shot and killed (aside from the gunman), and at least a dozen more were injured. The Chief of Police for the city of Gilroy said he would make another announcement this morning.
