Chef Carlos Pineda, and his Sous Chef Kishon Southy, were awarded a $2,500 prize for winning today’s Garlic Showdown at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. The competition was inspired by cooking competitions such as Iron Chef. In this case, 4 professional chefs competed against each other in a timed challenge to create 2 dishes using a secret ingredient that was revealed during the contest.
