A Huntington Beach man has been convicted for his role in a 2009 Marina home invasion. 51 year old Sean Melody and an accomplice, Brian Zumbado, invaded the home at gunpoint, taking three people hostage. They then severely beat two victims with a bat, persuading the owner to open a safe for the robbers. Melody, also connected to several other California home invasions, was convicted of kidnapping for extortion with bodily harm, one count of kidnapping for extortion without bodily harm, three counts of grand theft of a firearm, and one count of grand theft of personal property. Zumbado was sentenced to prison for the crime in 2013.
