IN STATE NEWS… IT TOOK ALMOST 20-YEARS BUT A FIGHT OVER TOXIC LEAD PAINT FINALLY ENDED YESTERDAY.

THREE PAINT MANUFACTURERS AGREED TO PAY 305-MILLION DOLLARS TO PAY FOR TOXIC CLEAN-UP IN 10-CALIFORNIA COUNTIES.

 

PAINT MAKERS SHERWIN WILLIAMS, CON-AGRA GROCERY PRODUCTS AND N-L INDUSTRIES AGREED TO PAY FOR THE HARM THEY CAUSED BY USING TOXIC LEAD PAINT.   THE MULTI MILLION DOLLAR LAWSUIT ORIGINATED IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY AND MONTEREY COUNTY WILL BE ONE OF THE RECIPIENTS,

 

ACCORDING TO SANTA CLARA COUNTY SUPERVISOR DAVE CORTESE, THE MONEY WILL BE USED IN PART TO REMOVE LEAD PAINT FROM HOMES BUILT BEFORE 19-51 AND LAUNCH A PUBLIC INFORMATION CAMPAIGN TO REMIND PEOPLE THAT OLD HOMES MAY CONTAIN TOXIC PAINT.
