A settlement was reached today, in which officials with Pacific Gas And Electric Company have agreed to pay 1 billion dollars to local governments, for their part in the ignition of several wildfires. Those fires included the 2015 fire in Butte County, the 2017 Complex of fires in the Wine Country, and the 2018 Camp Fire (which destroyed the towns of Pulga, Concow, and Paradise….and led to the deaths of 85 people….and the destruction of thousands of homes).
The judge overseeing the case must approve the settlement before it can be implemented.
