It is once again fire season in California. Yolo County experienced a fast-moving wildfire over the weekend that continues to burn and is barely contained this morning.
PG&E began intentional power shutdowns on Saturday, thanks to “red flag” fire conditions. Another blackout on Saturday night impacted about 16,000 homes, including some in Paradise, the Butte County town devastated by last years’ Camp Fire.
That fire was blamed on defective PG&E hardware and the company is under tremendous pressure to prevent additional fires.
In Yolo County, the Sand Fire has burned 2,200 acres and is 20 percent contained. No structures have been damaged, and no injuries reported.
