Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 2 suspected identity thieves on Sunday. The incident took place during a vehicle code violation stop in rural Watsonville. A search of the vehicle occupied by Rita Rodriguez and Brandon Blount uncovered hundreds of victims worth of identity theft materials, ranging from credit cards and identification cards to blank checks and account login information. The investigation is ongoing–both suspects were booked into the County Jail for identity theft and narcotics related offenses.
