Santa Cruz police have yet to release the identity of a 40-year-old man who died in their custody Saturday. Police had responded to the report of a man on the ground near River and Water Streets. Upon arrival, officers arrested the man for being intoxicated and took him to jail. There the man became semi-conscious and paramedics took him to Dominican Hospital where he died.
The investigation into the man’s death is continuing and coroner’s officials are still seeking his family members.
