Scientists and conservationists say the count is up on the number of Steelhead Trout in the Carmel River. The 126 fish were counted as they went over the Los Padres Dam. Last year just 25 fish were counted during the peak of the drought. The removal of the San Clemente Dam (on the Carmel River) has made it easier for Steelhead to swim upriver and reach the Los Padres Dam.
