Today the Monterey County District Attorney Jeanine Pacioni, released information regarding the investigation into the officer involved shooting of 20-year-old Brenda Rodriquez Mendoza… in Salinas last month.
It turns out, Mendoza was in possession of an airsoft gun but never-the-less, the D.A. says officers feared for their safety, and assumed the gun was real and not fake when she pointed it directly at them. She did not say if the officers involved would be charged. Body cam video shows Mendoza brandishing the fake gun four times during the stand-off.
All three officers have over ten years experience in law enforcement.
