Santa Cruz City Schools will hold a public hearing Wednesday night to discuss whether to hold trustee area elections – sometimes called single-member districts – without submitting the issue to voters for an OK.
The public hearing is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the County Office of Education Board Room, 400 Encinal St. Everyone is invited to attend.
A state waiver would allow the change without specific voter approval. Trustees are seeking input on whether the waiver should be sought.
Santa Cruz City Schools seek to change from at-large elections to trustee-area elections, which divide the school district into pieces, each with its own elected trustee.
