The gates have been closed, and locked, around the Slides at both Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide on Highway 1, south of Big Sur. Those gates are not expected to be re-opened to through traffic again until Cal-Trans Geo-technical crews can check the roadway AFTER it stops raining. Cal-Trans hopes to either have the coastal highway re-opened, or have an update for the public, by this Friday afternoon.
