Neither former neurosurgeon James Kohut nor his co-defendant Rashel Brandon appeared for their hearing in a Santa Cruz County court room yesterday, but their attorney’s waived their appearances and the judge agreed. The 3rd person involved in the case, Emily Stephens, is no longer represented by private counsel and she is scheduled to appear before Santa Cruz County Superior Court Judge Ariadne Symons tomorrow morning to clarify her intentions regarding counsel.
