Despite a cry for more affordable housing, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors agreed to spend 20-million dollars to preserve farmland in Silicon Valley.
Over the past three decades over 21-thousand acres of farmland has been developed. It’s estimated that another 28-thousand could be lost in the south county areas of Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy.
The program will initially be funded with money left over from the 20-19, 20-20 budget.
