The siren at the top of the Carmel-By-The-Sea Fire Station will be used as part of an Early Warning System. The city recently tested the siren, but prior to that it had not been sounded since 2004. Back then, it was used to alert Volunteer Fire Firefighters. Now, in an emergency, the siren will blare through the city for two minutes.
