Local congressman Jimmy Panetta, who is part of the gun violence prevention task force, has cosponsored H.R. 8, which is the Bipartisan Background Checks Act Of 2019. The bill expands the existing background check system to cover all commercial firearm sales, including those at gun shows, over the internet, or in classified ads…while still providing reasonable exceptions for family- and friend- transfers.
H.R. – 8 was introduced on the 8th anniversary of a mass shooting in Tucson….that left 6 dead, and severely wounded former congresswoman Gabby Giffords.
