A new upscale hotel is planned for the 2100 block of Fremont Street in Monterey. It will be constructed where Caruso’s Corner Italian Restaurant used to be, and where the Casa Verde Inn is currently. Lakshmi Hotel Partners Incorporated purchased the property in November, and a spokesman for the company (which represents 30 different hotels in California) said there are enough water credits available to accommodate 50 rooms.
He also said the company hopes to demolish both the existing Inn and the Restaurant, by this summer.
